Michael Messner – Co-Founder & Chief Investment Officer (CIO). Michael is the chief architect of Fourth Ward’s investment strategy and brings a long track record of success. He was the Founder and CIO of Seminole Capital, a hedge fund he led from 1995 to 2018, during which time he earned a reputation for strong performance. Earlier in his career, Michael held senior roles at prestigious firms – for example, he served as Director of Research at Lazard Frères (1988–1991) and as a Vice President & Senior Analyst at Pioneering Management Corp. (1983–1988). He holds an M.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. from Georgia Tech. Michael is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. His extensive experience and quantitative background set the tone for Fourth Ward’s research-driven culture.
Elizabeth Reynolds – Co-Founder & Portfolio Manager. Elizabeth plays a key role in managing the fund’s portfolio and research process. She previously served as Assistant Portfolio Manager at Seminole Capital from 2000 to 2018, working alongside Michael in portfolio decision-making and risk management. Her career began in credit analysis, with roles at Moody’s Investors Service and AMBAC Indemnity Corp., where she honed her analytical skills evaluating financial risk. Elizabeth earned her MBA from New York University and a B.A. from Bates College. She is also a CFA charterholder. With her strong analytical background and two decades of hedge fund experience, Elizabeth adds a rigorous fundamental perspective to Fourth Ward’s investment choices.
